WHAT IS PIMS?
PIIMS is an
organization set up to support the independent music scene of Perth.
The purpose of PIMS is to help build
the profiles of local artists through higher exposure, feedback on their
performance and music, and networking between fellow Perth artists. Essentially PIMS is designed to generate a
creative, enthusiastic and supportive community within the independent music scene
of Perth.

Members of PIMS receive:

One
professionally recorded song (as well as ½ price recordings for the entire year)

Broadcast
of members music on the Perth produced radio show “Close to Nowhere” which airs
through Recharged Radio in the UK each week.
The show is also podcasted for international subscribers.

Written
endorsement and promotion for all live shows which the member is performing at
throughout the year.
·
Free
entry into the annual PIMS Awards song competition.
·
Free
entry into the annual Top 40 PIMS Compilation album competition.
·
Independent
reviews and personalized write-ups by PIMS staff of all members.

Constructive
criticism and guidance by PIMS staff for specific songs, live performances, music
videos, albums etc... for any members who request it.

Members
can submit articles for inclusion in the PIMS digital magazine.

‘Feature Artist’ spot on the PIMS website for all members.
BREAKDOWN OF SERVICES
PROFESSIONAL RECORDING:
Each member will be entitled to receive
one fully produced recording during the course of their annual membership. This will be conducted through Scudley
Records in Bassendean. The artist will
receive one full studio quality recording, which includes mixing, editing and
mastering. Members can also have a
semi-professional music video created for their song for an extra $120. Artists will also receive ½ price recordings
throughout the duration of their annual membership.
BROADCAST THROUGHOUT THE YEAR:
Members will have their music
broadcast on the ‘Close to Nowhere’ radio show throughout the course of their
annual membership. The show will feature
music from all over Australia, with the bulk being from Perth. It is created, produced and hosted right here
in Perth and then gets sent to the UK for live broadcast through the
international station ‘Recharged Radio’ in London. Included in this is a write-up and links to
the broadcasted artists each week.
ENDORSEMENT AND PROMOTION OF GIGS:
PIMS will be proud to provide
written endorsements and assist in the promotion of any gigs organized by the member
throughout the duration of their annual membership. Members can send PIMS the details of their gig
and PIMS will give a written endorsement and also post up links and create
blurbs promoting the show. The artist is
then free to use the written endorsement and promotions created by PIMS on
their own fan page, website or posters.
Members of PIMS are also entitled to have one custom-designed poster for
their show. This does not include
printing of the posters, but does include full online promotion with the setup
of an events page to promote the show.
ANNUAL ‘PIMS AWARDS’ SONG COMPETITION:
Once a year, PIMS will hold a
competition for all members to be a part of at no cost. Members can send in their song, along with a
blurb about themselves and PIMS will critique, review, and evaluate every entry
in an objective and democratic way. This
will be achieved by 100% judging panel votes only - no friend or family votes
will be considered. Songs will be
listened to by a select panel chosen by PIMS to give an honest and objective review
of each entry. Winners will then be
decided by category. The overall winner
will be chosen from all the 1st place category winners. The overall winner will be decided by
international affiliates who will each cast their vote for the desired winner.
The winner will get the production of a 6
track EP, complete with mixing, editing and mastering, design of artwork and
made available online for purchase with 100% profits going to the artist. Two semi-professional music videos will also
be produced for the artist. An entire
episode of Close to Nowhere will be created and dedicated to the artist, and
will include a full interview, live recording of two songs and an in-depth
analysis of the entire EP which includes broadcasting all the songs. A gig featuring the top 4 artists in the
competition will also be arranged – total value $5,000.
ANNUAL TOP 40 COMPILATION ALBUM:
All PIMS members are
automatically included in the competition to be featured in the annual ‘Independent
TOP 40’ Compilation album. PIMS staff
and international affiliates will vote for the Top 40 songs. All genres, all quality of recordings will be
eligible.
PERSONAL REVIEWS AND WRITE-UPS:
All members will receive personal
reviews and write-ups of their music. These
reviews and write-ups can then be used by the artist for promotional purposes
on their own band pages.
CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM:
Members are encouraged to have
PIMS staff provide constructive criticism and guidance on any aspect of their
music throughout the course of their membership – whether it be one specific
song, a live recording, music video, album etc... Advice and practical suggestions will be
given to members that can used to help better their skills as song-writers and
on stage performers. This service can be
used multiple times by members throughout the course of their annual
membership.
PIMS DIGITAL MAGAZINE:
Once a month PIMS will be
releasing a digital magazine in which members can have their own articles included. These articles can be about any topic
relating to music, whether it is a personal experience or opinion on current
issues that the member would like to share.
FEATURE ARTIST SPOT:
All members will be the feature
artist at least once during the course of their annual membership.
